Well to be fair I've said it before there are parallels between both of them.

Vegeta had his childhood taken away from, kidnapped by Frieza. Gohan had his childhood taken, kidnapped by Raditz and Piccolo. Vegeta was made to fight to keep his race alive, similar to how Gohan was made to fight as a 5 year old. They both have absentee dads who weren't really there to wise or care for them, even though both willingly died for their sons.

But yeah Vegeta cares moe for Gohan than th others. I always thought it was why Goku mad the pairings to enter ROSAT. If you told Vegeta he had a choice, he wouldn't have took Trunks as he basically said at the time he didnt think he was a true warrior, let alone spent a year liked in a room of nothingness with Kakarot.

But yeah he had expectations and form of respect. Gohan was the kid that fought its him at 5 one on one. Heck Gohan could be rationalized with as an ape which was amazing for a low class. He fought alongside him with Ginyus and Frieza. Gohan saw him cry, and its never said that Gohan (Krillin, Piccolo, or Goku) ever mention it to the rest of the gang. He watched him beat cell. He's pissed at Dabura because he expected weaker but he thought more of Gohan that what he was showing obviously,

But yeah he has some interest in Gohan, very much a grumpy uncle. That said, Vegeta also had some respect for Krillin and Piccolo, whereas he never even bothered to mention the name of Tien or Yamcha in any adaptation, as he goes from Namek and Bald runt to calling them by their names, a warriors respect that isn't there at all for Yamcha or Tien

Oh yeah, and to be honest I think with the Human fighters, I could see Vegeta getting along with Tien. But that's only if Tien let go of his grudge.

This is why I wrote my Fanfic around these two, I think they work together very well, and I can see Vegeta as an Uncle like character, and a Father figure when Kakarrot and The Namek are gone.

The reason why I don't think Roshi, or even Krillin couldn't fit the bill is because they're not either a Saiyan or they haven't been in Gohan's life as much as Kakarrot, Vegeta and The Namek, Kakarrot being the least.

If you disregard GT, Kakarrot has only been in Gohan's life for 18 years and a matter of Months, The Namek has been in his life for 22 years (IF I counted right), and Vegeta for about 20 years. But what I think makes the difference is The Namek and Vegeta was there for Gohan during his Teen years, which is very important for a kid...since those are the steps to manhood.
And that is a profound thing. Usually you get most of your memories from age 3 on, and Goku's a little inconsistant with Gohan from age 5 on. Sometimes through no fault of his own, and sometimes not so much.

As a side note: Saberoth. I notice you like to call Goku "Kakarot(to)" and Super Namek Piccolo "The Namek." Just out of curiosity why is that? I always know what character you're referring to, so it's not distracting from any point you make it's just noticeable.

Well, even though later in the Cell arc he tells Kakarrot to still call him Piccolo, when he reforms with Kami he says he's The Namek that's forgotten his name...so, I like calling him The Namek because I think it fits.

And if you notice when talking about him before he merges with Kami, I say Piccolo, because it's accurate. :D

As for Kakarrot, that's his Saiyan name, and it's his proper name. That and I'm very interested in Saiyans.

And, it's Saberoph, not Saberoth. :p

Vegeta had respect for Gohan, I believe he even cared quite a bit for him, which is why when Gohan became weaker then him, it angered him, he expected much more from him considering.
